The following information applies to trading hours on Anzac Day. It includes information about service of alcohol as well as operation of gaming machines. For two-up regulations, please read Two-up on Anzac Day or the Charitable and Non-Profit Gaming Two-up Amendment Act PDF, KB.

Please note, Anzac Day trading hours for retail shops non-licensed premises may be different to trading hours for liquor and gaming licensees.

After 1pm normal trading hours will apply. The Liquor Act allows trading from 5am on Anzac Day in association with dawn services. The Act allows licensed RSL and services clubs to trade from 5am on Anzac Day as part of their ordinary trading hours.

They do not need to apply for a permit to do this if they are catering for Anzac Day services or functions. RSL and services clubs are exempt from the standard requirement to provide meals at their premises. Other licensees may apply for an extended hours permit to trade from 5am—1pm on Anzac Day only if the licensee has entered into a written agreement with an RSL or services club to sell liquor at an Anzac Day event being held on behalf of the club.

The need to serve meals is removed if the agreement is in place. The agreement must state that the licensed premises conducting the function is holding the function on behalf of the RSL or services club i. Letters advising that a licensee has RSL support to conduct an Anzac Day function are not acceptable. Licensees can also apply for an extended hours permit from 6am subject to the usual processing requirements and the requirement to supply meals.

Club licensees are not required to maintain a sign-on register for details of people attending an Anzac Day function. Fees are not required for any application community liquor permit, commercial public event permit, extended hours permit, temporary decrease, etc.

Licensees - other than licensed RSL or services clubs - who wish to apply for an extended hours permit to trade from 6am on Anzac Day must submit a completed application to the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation, along with a copy of the agreement they have with an RSL or services club.
